NATA Aviation Leadership Conference Addresses Critical Aviation Business Issues

The National Air Transportation Association’s (NATA) annual Aviation Leadership Conference (ALC) closed Wednesday after two successful days of panels and discussions. Held for the first time at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD, the conference’s agenda explored a range of relevant and important topics to the aviation business industry from emergency planning, to Capitol Hill updates, to airport/community issues and succession planning.

In addition to the comprehensive agenda, attendees heard from two keynote speakers: Philip Langford, President North America of the International Justice Mission, who spoke about the epidemic of Human Trafficking today; and Tim Shaver, Director of the Office of Safety Standards at the FAA, who gave an update on the FAA and opened a dialogue with members about challenges and opportunities.

NATA’s Board of Directors, President’s Advisory Council, and several of its committees met prior to the meeting, setting the tone for a productive conference. Curt Castagna, President and CEO of Aeroplex / Aerolease Group and Chairman of NATA’s Board of Directors, stated, “We had excellent sessions and committee meetings, discussing the critical issues currently facing our industry. This conference provides the ability for attendees to engage directly with policy makers and influential industry members in meaningful conversations that are both educational and supportive of the growth and evolution of successful aviation businesses.”

“Thank you to everyone who joined us at this year’s ALC and preceding meetings,” said NATA COO Tim Obitts. “NATA appreciates the strong and loyal following the Aviation Leadership Conference has had over the years, but we were also very pleased to welcome many new attendees this week. This event continues to progress as the face of our industry evolves. We look forward to continuing to leverage the energy and expertise of our dedicated staff and membership to advance the safety, security, and success of the industry as we approach our 80th year of service.”

NATA appreciates the support of our full-conference sponsors: Air BP, Atlantic Aviation, Chubb, Flexjet, Jet Aviation, NetJets, Phillips 66, Signature Flight Support, TAC Air, and World Fuel Services. We also appreciate the sponsorship of Aeroplex / Aerolease Group, Boca Raton Airport Authority, Lynx FBO Network, NATA Compliance Services, Priester Aviation, Ross Aviation, Solairus Aviation, Sonoma Jet Center, and Stuart Jet Center.
