nullFinal Rule on Combined Drug and Alcohol Testing

The FAA published a final rule allowing commercial air tour operations to combine drug and alcohol testing programs. Operators choosing to do so would first need to receive a Letter of Authorization (LOA) from their local Flight Standards District Office (FSDO). Unifying drug and alcohol programs will reduce the administrative costs and burdens operators have experienced. Click here to read the final rule.

The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) welcomes TSA Administrator John Pistole’s announcement today of a new process allowing more U.S. citizens to enroll in TSA PreCheck. The TSA PreCheck program is an expedited screening process for pre-approved airline travelers. See TSA press release.

On Thursday, July 18, U.S. Representative Scott Perry (R-PA) became the 200th member to join the House General Aviation (GA) Caucus. Formed in 2009, the caucus aims to promote the vital role general aviation plays in communities across the nation. Mauiva AirCruise landed at Manassas Regional Airport on their inaugural flight into the area.  Mauiva is bringing international visitors to the City of Manassas on their journey around the East Coast. Mauiva selected Manassas Regional Airport as a regular stopping point for their AirCruise tour for the airport’s personal attention to patrons; for the inviting terminal building; for the 6,200 foot runway which gives aircraft a longer area for takeoff and touchdown; for the proximity of the airport to tourist attractions; and because of the de-icing equipment available to airport clients at Manassas Regional Airport.
