NATA Safety Committee Meets at Headquarters

 

The NATA Safety Committee met on October 13th at NATA headquarters. The Committee discussed the launch of new online Safety 1st content, topics for a 2017 ground handling safety symposium, and IS-BAH initiatives. During the meeting, the Committee introduced three new members Rick Boyce Director of FBO Safety & Operations at Million Air, Clyde Lipford Operations Manager at Volo Aviation and Brandon Popovich General Manager, Wilson Air Center in Charlotte. NATA is a member-driven association and volunteering to serve on one of the association’s policy committees is a great way to give back to the industry. NATA Staff Attends EBAA Air Ops Europe Conference

Last week, the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) held its Annual Air Ops Europe event in Cannes, France. NATA’s Executive Vice President of Operations and Business Tim Obitts and Managing Director of Safety and Training Mike France attended the international ground handling convention to meet with members and promote Safety 1st and IS-BAH initiatives. NATA Participates in GAJSC Meeting

 

On October 12th, NATA attended a General Aviation Joint Steering Committee (GAJSC) meeting in Washington, D.C. Committee members, comprised of industry and government representatives, reviewed general aviation safety data and discussed the status of ongoing safety enhancements (SEs). NTSB Chairman Christopher Hart discussed general aviation safety data and the need for greater collaboration between the NTSB, FAA and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Chairman Hart is confirmed to speak at next month’s NATA Aviation Business Roundtable, where he will share his insights and perspectives on the Board’s aviation safety priorities. The next GAJSC meeting will convene on January 11th in Washington, D.C.

Preparing for the Overtime Final Rule | Webinar Recording Available

 

Today, representatives from the Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division held a webinar to help businesses prepare for the overtime final rule. On May 17, 2016 the Department of Labor announced its final rule raising the overtime exemption from $23,660 to $47,476. The final rule also establishes a mechanism for automatically updating the exemption level every three years. In 2015, NATA filed in opposition to the proposal after consulting with our membership on its possible impacts.The webinar included: 


    -The basics of the U.S. Department of Labor's final rule updating the overtime regulations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA),

    -Resources and guidance available for employers

    -Question and answer session covering compliance assistance

2016 Flag Pins for Veterans Project | NATA Welcomes New Participants Marathon Jet Center and Marathon General Aviation

 

NATA’s 2016 Flag Pins for Veterans Project runs through the end of the month. Once again, project participants can display American-made flag pins in their operations with signage suggesting a $1.00 donation per pin, or make a direct donation to the project. Last year’s campaign raised nearly $30,000 for the Veteran’s Airlift Command and The Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation. Hawthorne Global Aviation Services Welcomes New Director of Human Resources

 

Last week, Denise del Pino joined Hawthorne Global Aviation Services as its Director of Human Resources. With more than 10 years of experience working in Human Resources (HR), del Pino will oversee all of Hawthorne’s human resources initiatives including organizational performance and culture, compensation and benefits, staffing, training and employee relations. “Denise is a great addition to the world-class team that we have at Hawthorne, bringing a depth of human resources expertise,” said Bryon Burbage, President and CEO of Hawthorne Global Aviation Services. “She will help drive our HR strategy to ensure we have the best talent, engaged employees and a high-performance culture.” Read more.

 
 
 
 


JetSuiteX Launches New Flight Service Between Carlsbad and San Jose

 

Last month, JetSuiteX introduced service between Carlsbad and San Jose, California. JetSuiteX’s new service will connect McClellan–Palomar Airport with Burbank Mineta San José International Airport with four weekly roundtrip flights. "We are thrilled to introduce service between San Diego County and the Bay Area, adding yet another JetSuiteX destination," said JetSuite CEO Alex Wilcox. "Our new route is the first publicly available non-stop service to the Bay Area in at least 20 years.” The public charter operator launched service in April, and offers regular flights in major west coast markets. Signature Flight Support Signs Agreement with Enterprise and National

 

Signature Flight Support and Enterprise Holdings Inc. recently signed an exclusive five-year deal to extend Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental’s services across Signature’s global network. “Our long-term relationship with Enterprise Holdings has been exceptional and the services that they offer to Signature customers add to the premium FBO experience that Signature Flight Support is known for,” stated Maria A. Sastre, President and Chief Operating Officer at Signature. EPIC Fuels Appoints New Chief Financial Officer

 

EPIC Fuels recently announced the appointment of Marla Beckham as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Beckham will be based in the Irving, Texas headquarters and report directly to EPIC Fuels President Kevin Cox. “After a nationwide search, we are extremely proud to have Marla join our team as our Chief Financial Officer. Marla’s wealth of financial expertise combined with her vast experience in the aviation marketplace are a perfect fit for EPIC.” commented Kevin Cox, EPIC Fuels President. Beckham’s leadership background includes accounting, financial planning and analysis, tax, treasury, investor relations and procurement in the general aviation industry and is a licensed CPA. Save the Date for the 2017 ACSF Safety Symposium

 

The 2017 ACSF Safety Symposium will take place March 7-8, 2017 at the NTSB Training Center in Ashburn, VA. Topics will include Reducing Risk, Emergency Response Plans, Leadership, Ground Handling and more. ACSF members can register for $675 (nonmembers $795). Registration includes admittance to the two-day event, all scheduled group meals, breaks, and social functions, and transportation to and from hotel to events.
