NATA Loss of License Insurance Program Reaches Pilot Enrollment Milestone

The Association is pleased to announce that over 1,000 pilots are now enrolled in its Loss of License Insurance Program, administered by Harvey Watt & Co. and underwritten by Symetra. This exclusive insurance program is intended for Part 135, Part 125, Part 91K and Part 91 operators. The key component of the Program offers income replacement for pilots who lose their FAA medicals.

“NATA’s Loss of License Program was developed to help our members and the general aviation industry to combat the pilot shortage that we face today. By expanding the benefits offered to pilots, companies can better recruit, protect, and retain pilots – making this one of our most sought-after membership benefits,” said Timothy Obitts, Chief Operating Officer of NATA.

NATA, IFBOA, and QBE Aviation Announce Final Good Experience Return of 24.74%

The Association and QBE Aviation of QBE Holdings, Inc. (QBE) are proud to announce that the 2015 Program year of its Workers Compensation Insurance Program closed with a final Good Experience Return (GER) of 24.74%. Participants look forward to these substantial savings year-after-year and we are pleased to see the substantial growth not only in the number of participants in the Program, but also in the overall return that the Program provides our members,” stated Timothy Obitts, Chief Operating Officer of NATA.

NATA Member Monday! | Gem Air, LLC

NATA’s Member Monday series highlights the diverse businesses that make up the Association's membership to show the positive impacts they have on their communities, the aviation business industry, and the world at large.

Gem Air, LLC is a family owned and operated Part 135 air service based in Salmon, Idaho. It offers a wide range of services from UPS cargo, to charter, to flight instruction. Sister and brother, Jo and David Schroeder, have taken leadership roles in the company, and the family's first generation in the business, parents JoAnn Wolters and Dan Schroeder, remain involved as well. The cargo flights they run for UPS provide the financial backbone for the company, in the form of steady, year-round revenue. And, if the cargo flights are the financial backbone, the heart and soul is the seasonal backcountry flying. That culture and identity is ingrained in the company and the Schroeder family. The airmanship and good decision- making skills pilots learn in the backcountry environment shape Gem Air's tradition of safe, skilled aviation.

Bombardier Teams with Tech School for Global 7500 Jobs

Bombardier has developed an apprenticeship program with Texas State Technical College (TSTC) to develop local skills as it ramps up manufacturing of the Global 7500 wing in Red Oak, Texas. The Canadian manufacturer acquired the Global 7500 wing program in Red Oak from Triumph Group earlier this year and signed a lease to continue production of the wing line there. Further, Bombardier retained the employees who supported the program. Looking forward, Bombardier and TSTC have developed a two-year Bombardier aviation apprenticeship to help build a pipeline for that program, as well as provide students with an entry into the aerospace sector. Students will train at TSTC’s facilities and receive on-the-job training, enabling them “to benefit at no cost from industry-tailored modules, experienced instructors, tools, and equipment and financial support,” Bombardier said.
