Wisconsin Governor Dedicated Week to General Aviation
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker proclaimed last week, July 29-August 4, as Wisconsin Aviation Week. The week coincided with “The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration,” the Experimental Aircraft Association’s (EAA) AirVenture in Oshkosh. Across Wisconsin, there are 133 public-use airports that provide access to communities and businesses throughout the state. General aviation generates about $7 billion annually in economic activity and supports 90,000 jobs, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. “Wisconsin’s airport system plays a vital role in the state’s transportation network and responsibly and effectively meets business, passenger, freight and recreational air transportation needs all around the state,” stated Department of Transportation Secretary Mark Gottlieb.
