Arkansas Governor Declares August “General Aviation Appreciation Month”
Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe recently declared August as “General Aviation Appreciation Month” across the state. In the proclamation, Governor Beebe highlights the importance aviation and aircraft manufacturing play to the lives of Arkansas’ citizens and business and farm operations. Throughout the Land of Opportunity, there are 90 public-use airports that house over 3,000 general aviation aircraft and are occupied by 8,161 registered pilots and 5,400 employees. There are nearly 80 fixed base operations, 5 flight schools, 18 charter-flight companies and 43 repair stations that contribute to the nearly $1 billion in total economic impact that aviation contributes to the state’s economy.
