NATA Announces Complete List of 2017 Industry Excellence Award Winners | Luncheon at June Conference

Last week, NATA announced the full list of 2017 Industry Excellence Award winners who will be recognized during a June 13th luncheon in conjunction with the association’s Annual Meeting and Aviation Business Conference. In addition to the Ong and Distinguished Service Awards to be given to long-time aviation executives Larry Flynn and Randy Berg respectively, other honorees include: George Terry, VP Director of Maintenance Operations at Corporate Eagle (ATP/NATA General Aviation Service Technician Award); Juan Rivera, Airport Director at Manassas Regional Airport (Airport Executive Partnership Award); Janine Schwahn, Chief Instructor at Summit Aviation (Excellence in Pilot Training Award); and Henry Graves, Line Technician at APP Jet Center – Manassas (Safety 1st Certified Line Service Professional Award). This year, NATA will also present the Distinguished Public Service Award Dr. Gerald Dillingham, former U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) Director of Civil Aviation Issues.

This Week NATA to Host Events in Minneapolis and Charlotte

On May 8-10, NATA will hold its Certified FBO Safety Manager Workshop in Minneapolis, MN. Instructed and sponsored by Aviation & Marine Safety Solutions International (AvMassi), attendees will learn how to enhance their safety leadership and communication skills, analyze return on safety investments and benefits of safety programs, implement industry standards, and develop and effectively administer a safety management system (SMS). 

Tomorrow, NATA will host an Air Charter Forum, inviting operators in the Charlotte area to discuss issues impacting the Part 135 community — including illegal charter, federal excise taxes, the pilot shortage, FSDO relationships and more. RSVP complimentary and enjoy lunch courtesy of our sponsor GoGo Business Aviation.

Jet Aviation Completes Hawker Pacific Acquisition


Jet Aviation completes its acquisition of fellow business aviation services provider Hawker Pacific. They are also eyeing further expansion through strategic acquisitions and organic growth, as part of a strategy to provide global coverage for its customers. The ownership of Hawker Pacific will expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions – notably in China, Dubai and Singapore. The acquisition will also open up new territories for the General Dynamics-owned subsidiary, including Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines and Thailand. Learn more at


Signature Flight Support Unveils Renovated Facility in Charlottesville, VA


Signature Flight Support has commenced operations on a four-month project of a renovated terminal facility at the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport in Charlottesville, Virginia. The new facility exhibits significant improvements in comfort and quality for private aviation visitors to the airport. An upgraded exterior terminal façade compliments a full interior refit of the 10,000 sq. ft. facility, which showcases a selection of modern passenger amenities including a new lobby, coffee bar, conference room, and internet café. Further modifications include a new crew lounge, quiet rooms, and an innovative take on the front counter concept which enables a more participative customer service experience from Signature staff members. Million Air Reveals New Westchester County Airport Hangar


Last week, Million Air revealed their new hangar at Westchester County Airport. The new facility will hold and service 13 aircraft, which will help grow the local economy. The two-story hangar includes eight customizable offices with storage space, 28-foot height doors, and heated floors, allowing temperatures to be maintained for aircraft and pilots. The new 52,000 square foot hangar will join the company's existing hangar and allow more planes to be stored. Learn more here. 


ACSF and Collaborate to Offer ASAP Services


The Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) and have been working together to offer the charter and business aviation community an Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) that allows customers to combine the FAA/ACSF ASAP Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with’s safety software. Both ACSF and are pleased to announce they have reached an agreement. “The goal is to provide end users with one-stop shopping by combining their overall safety management system with an ACSF-ASAP program,” said ACSF president Bryan Burns. “It is through a cooperative effort and shared mission of safety, that the ACSF and have been able to bring this program to the marketplace through a single data source. Both entities believe this will be a win-win relationship for the charter and business aviation community, as we work together to reduce operational risk and redundant workload associated with multiple databases,” noted Burns.
