NATA to Present at ACT Expo in Southern California

NATA COO Tim Obitts will speak on a panel entitled, "Greening Aviation: Funding and Regulatory Drivers", during a workshop at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo on April 23–26 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Southern California. The workshop emphasizes the millions of dollars of funding available today for deploying alternative fuel and advanced technologies at airports, from ground support equipment to aircraft to airport shuttle buses. The ACT Expo is North America’s leading conference and expo showcasing the real-world application of the latest transportation technologies, drive trains, and clean fuels. Learn more


 
 


Industry Best Practices to Prevent Hangar Rash or Worse

A strong safety culture that invests in the proper training of line personnel with a defined set of hangar and ramp movement practices as part of standard operating procedures (SOP) can reduce the risk of incidents. A recent article by Aviation Business Strategies Group's John Enticknap and Ron Jackson suggests developing your SOPs with your line service management team, including your safety manager, line service supervisor, general manager, and senior line technicians. Enhance Your Company's Fuel and Safety Operations with NATA Safety 1st In-Person Training

 

This month, the Certified QC Inspector Workshop will provide attendees with a comprehensive advanced education in fuel handling topics. On April 23-24 (Ft. Worth, TX), attendees will enhance their knowledge on fuel characteristics, filtration, sampling and testing, maintenance, and setting up a conformant inspection program. Additionally, this course will cover the importance of QC record keeping and documentation, along with how to prepare for a QC audit. NATA will offer this workshop again on September 10-11 in Van Nuys, CA.

 

On May 8-10, NATA will hold its Certified FBO Safety Manager Workshop in Chicago, IL. The workshop will help attendees learn the fundamentals of safety management in a ground handling environment, as well as practical knowledge on the development and implementation of an IS-BAH conformant safety management system (SMS).

Jet Linx Achieves Monumental Milestone in Private Aviation


On March 25th, NATA Member Jet Linx, the third-largest aircraft management company (Part 135) in the United States, achieved a monumental milestone in private aviation, having flown 100 million miles. Jet Linx surpassed the this threshold following a 1,085.2-mile flight from Scottsdale, AZ to Omaha, NE on Sunday, March 24. The announcement was made by Jamie Walker, President & CEO of Jet Linx Aviation. “This amazing achievement is a reflection of our steadfast commitment to deliver exceptional service and the highest safety standards in private aviation to our clients – one mile at a time,” said Mr. Walker. “Jet Linx has grown at a steady pace since 1999 but, in the last few years, our business has experienced an exponential trajectory, having flown half of the 100 million miles in the last five years alone.” Read more.


 
   
 

Signature Flight Support Hosts Panel Discussion on Careers in Aviation | Awards Aviation Education Donation


In an effort to re-ignite a movement to bring aviation culture, community, and opportunities to the next generation, Signature Flight Support recently hosted a panel discussion on Boosting Aviation Careers. Panel members Matt Long, general manager of Signature Flight Support; United Airlines retired captain Karen Kahn; Alaska Airlines first officer Gregory D. Dierenfield; aviation mechanic Lucas Graybill; and air traffic controller Erica Champion discussed their journeys to successful careers in aviation. The panel was moderated by Ali Cortes, Executive Director of A Different Point Of View (ADPOV). Following the panel discussion, Signature Flight Support awarded ADPOV a check for $10,000 to continue providing youth opportunities to become captains of their own lives by using flight lessons as the launching pad, which is the mission of ADPOV. Read more.


 
 
 


Duncan Aviation Anticipated to Bring 400 Jobs with New Expansion

 

In the coming weeks, Duncan Aviation is anticipated to complete the second phase of its four-stage expansion at the Provo Airport. The company performs maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for private aircraft – mostly for corporate customers. "Our market is about 14,000 worldwide," said Bill Prochazka, Duncan Aviation's Chief Operating Officer. "We do attract clients into Provo from all over the globe." With a growing customer base, the company is expanding to continue servicing them. "In a couple of weeks, we'll get our paint hangar online which is the next one to our north," said Prochazka. "We've only been in here for a few months." Back in January, Duncan opened its newest maintenance hangar. Read more.


 
 
   Air Charter Safety Foundation


Sky Quest Joins the ACSF, Enrolls in ASAP

 

Last week, the Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) announced that Cleveland, Ohio-based Sky Quest LLC joined the ACSF. The company began its service in 2001 as a single-plane charter operator and has grown its fleet to 16 aircraft since then. Sky Quest is yet one more operator that also will participate in the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), created in cooperation between the ACSF and Federal Aviation Administration. Along with 195 other member companies, Sky Quest supports the ACSF’s vision to advance and enable the highest levels of safety in personal and business aviation through the promotion and facilitation of risk management programs.
